I love to-do lists. Sometimes I even write things down that I've already done, because it's so satisfying to cross them off. Life just seems so much more doable when everything you need to do fits on a post-it note. Never mind that each task will take an hour or ten to complete. The illusion is effective, and so I buy into it gladly.
Another interesting phenomenon, whether an insight into to-do lists or life in general, is what happens when you find an old to-do list. Everything that seemed so important, so stressful at the moment you wrote out the to-do list, is over and done with. You barely even think about it. You're on to bigger and better, more pressing matters, to worry about.
